About Vishal Patel, M.D.

Vishal Patel M.D. is a board-certified general psychiatrist who received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He went on to do his internship and residency training at New York-Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical College. He specializes in adult psychiatry and has extensive experience in various community settings including mental health clinics, dual diagnosis programs, supported residences, shelters, prison, and has cared for mentally ill homeless on the street. Dr. Patel also maintained a psychotherapy private practice guided by psychodynamic and mindfulness-based approaches. He is a firm believer in collaboration and client-centered treatment planning, as well as finding the right balance between acceptance and the desire for change. Dr. Patel enjoys treating individuals from all walks of life and feels comfortable treating almost all psychiatric conditions.
