About Michael Adelman, M.D.
Dr. Michael Adelman has been devoted to the care of children and adolescents struggling with behavioral health issues for most of his clinical life. Dr. Adelman is drawn to this field due to the striking real-world nature of his everyday work existence. Working in behavioral health emphasizes the humanity behind our existence, both individually and communally. Rather than the “traditional” doctor-patient relationship of expert and patient, the behavioral health perspective must recognize the importance of collaboration. Dr. Adelman’s true passion lies within assisting patients and families in identifying their own internal power and resiliency factors in treatment and gradually moving to a place of greater self-respect and self-efficacy in the context of the therapeutic relationship. Dr. Adelman is unique in the breadth of his experience within pediatrics, psychiatry, and child psychiatry. This “triple board” training provides a unique development and an excellent framework to understand fully the benefits and limitations of behavioral health work in children and adolescents leading to improved partnerships with families and more wholistic treatment planning. Dr. Adelman brings a level of genuine care and humility to his work along with a profound respect for the unique journey and perspectives of each of his patients and families.Conditions Treated
