About Stephen Gonzalez, Ph.D.

Dr. Stephen Gonzalez is a licensed Clinical Psychologist, since 2018, specializing in children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. He has expertise in providing mental health services to families in distress that require intensive treatment. He has specialized training in CBT psychotherapy models, particularly those oriented to trauma. Dr. Gonzalez offers psychotherapy services to individuals, families, and performs psychological testing for adults and adolescents. He is bilingual in English and Spanish.

Dr. Gonzalez completed his M.S. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Carlos Albizu University. His dissertation was on The Effect of the Use of Information and Communication Technologies on the Family Functioning of a Sample of Puerto Rican Adults.

Dr. Gonzalez completed his internship and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Children’s Institute, Inc., in Los Angeles. There, he had training focused on family preservation, child and family services, children’s mental health, domestic violence services, sexual abuse treatment, and early childhood mental health. He provided Intensive Home-Based Individual and Family Services; Field Capable Clinical Services (FCCS), Full Services Partnership (FSP), and Wraparound Services (WRAP). His Post-Doctoral Fellowship was on specialization in Trauma. Thereafter, he also became a Clinical Supervisor at the Doctoral Psychology Program, accredited by the American Psychological Association. His duties included supervision of interns’ practice at Early Childhood and Trauma Tracks, review notes, and assessment. He also facilitated the Early Childhood seminars and Family System Seminars.

Dr. Gonzalez had his private practice in Lakewood, where he worked as an individual psychotherapist, and performed psychological assessments. He has also worked as an adjunct faculty member at Antioch University in Los Angeles.
