About Michael Antoine, PA
Michael Antoine’s interest in psychiatry began when he worked as a residential care counselor working with the autistic pediatric population and as a behavioral specialist in a school setting ranging from elementary to high school students. Given the shortage of mental health providers and increase in mental health case, especially during the pandemic, he is motivated to continue to learn and contribute as a physician assistant. Unfortunately, minorities often suffer from poor mental health outcomes due to multiple factors including inaccessibility of high-quality mental health care services, cultural stigma surrounding mental health care, discrimination and overall lack of awareness about mental health. Michael hopes to be a provider that can bridge that gap as he has experience working in a diverse and multicultural environment with patients of different socioeconomic background and barriers. Michael’s care philosophy includes striving for mind and body improvement. He believes that steps to reach established goals should be a shared decision with the patient. Having a primary care background, Michael recognizes the impact and burden that chronic disease can have on mental health. Through advocating for lifestyle modifications with or without pharmacotherapy he hopes to impact their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional growth.Conditions Treated
