About Kimberly McGrady, LCSW
Kimberly believes that positive change starts on the individual level. In her practice and life, she has seen how individual thought drives how that person feels and behaves. Likewise, she’s seen how every change that happens within a community starts with individuals. Ms. McGrady became a psychotherapist so that she could help people recognize and effectively manage their maladaptive or unhealthy thinking in order to make necessary positive changes. She works with her patients to help them let go of thoughts that keep them stuck, hurt, depressed, anxious, and living in the past. In this way, she helps people become their best selves. She knows that we are all connected and that when she helps one person, the lives of that person’s kids, spouse, partner, parents, friends, and community also improve. With patients, Kimberly draws from/ Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and several other therapeutic modalities to teach useful, rational, productive, compassionate, and self-supporting tools. She cultivates the point of view that our minds reflect our reality and are powerful tools for creating change, invoking happiness, and managing maladaptive thinking. By exercising the mind in this way, people foster new belief systems that/ propel them into deeper life satisfaction. Ms. McGrady is motivated by the Henry Ford quote, “If you think you can do a thing or you can’t do a thing, you’re right.” She sees all the time how our minds believe what we tell them and, given that, thinks we might as well start telling our minds something helpful.
