About Hatira Watts, PMHNP

Hatira Watts, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with training and experience in treating vulnerable populations and promoting mental health across the lifespan. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas A&M University and her Master’s degree in Psychiatric Mental Health from the University of Texas Health Science Center. Hatira has over 11 years of experience as a nurse in the mental health field with the last five years as a PMHNP. She spent over 6 years as a registered nurse in an inpatient psychiatric hospital working with both children and adults. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, she is trained to provide advanced specialty care with a dual emphasis on intervention through psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.
Hatira’s primary clinical focus is caring for clients age 6 and up with mental health disorders including, but not limited to anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, developmental disorders (including autism spectrum), and posttraumatic stress disorder.
Hatira performs psychiatric evaluations and provides medication management to her patients. She utilizes evidence-based practice modalities while focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders.
Hatira believes that a nonjudgmental, collaborative relationship is at the heart of a truly therapeutic interaction and a primary driver of positive change. She works with clients to foster engagement in their care. She does not seek to simply prescribe treatment, but to help the client choose the best path to meet their personal goals.

In her free time, Hatira enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, and cooking.
