About Faisal Akram, M.D.

Dr. Akram’s psychiatric practice emphasizes the complexity of brain mind interactions and the uniqueness of each person. He has been actively engaged in psychiatric research with ambitions to uncover the biological, psychological, and, social contributors of mental illnesses. His research has focussed upon conceptual issues in diagnosing psychiatric disorders, moral injury, quality of psychiatric delivery systems, and, neurobiological mechanisms related to anxiety, depression, seasonal affective disorder, and suicide. He has been recognized for his research by the psychiatry residency training program and Washington Psychiatric Society through Shreeram Award and Resident Research Paper of the Year, respectively. Dr. Akram is well versed in medication management, existential psychiatry, psychoeducation, individual psychotherapy, and group therapy.
