About Andrea Paulitsch-Buckingham, M.D.
Andrea Paulitsch-Buckingham, M.D. is a board-certified adult psychiatrist. Born and raised in Austria, she attended Medical School at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria. Dr. Buckingham then moved to the United States to pursue her postgraduate medical education, completing a psychiatric residency in Buffalo, New York. After working as an outpatient psychiatrist with the Buffalo Veterans Hospital, she relocated to San Diego to be near family and pursue her psychiatric career.Dr. Buckingham has had the opportunity to work with various populations including LGBTQ, transitional aged youth, and veterans. She has treated patients with a variety of mood, anxiety and psychotic disorders. Since beginning her career, Dr. Buckingham has found a special interest in the treatment of anxiety disorders, particularly PTSD and OCD. Her treatment philosophy includes the use of medication in addition to the assessment and modification of health and lifestyle factors. Her goal is to help patients improve their overall quality of life. By incorporating psychoeducation and psychotherapeutic interventions, she aims to make patients active participants in their treatment.
Her hobbies include spending time with her family and cats, watching movies and traveling.
